Day 55: 150 ish km of Biking

Hardwood Lake to Fitzroy Prov Park

(Danica) Today was a long quiet biking day. We started with a fabulous downhill then quickly got slapped by many ups and downs. We got a huge climb of 12% which is one of our biggest... Ontario your not winning in our books today. Besides that we had lunch, biked more and then stopped in Arnprior to grab some groceries. We did a make your own dinner ... Aka subway and salads. The Prov Campsite was out of town another 20km in a small place called Fitzroy Harbour. Nice little town until a huge hill was between us and camping. Seems like everyday we end in a hill.. And we start in a hill. True fact!

For bikers looking to do this trip: Ontario has terrible roads. Hwy 17 out of Renfrew was terrible. We try to take more quiet back roads then keep on busy dangerous highways. As Kelly puts it "30km on a back road is faster then a hospital visit."

Other thoughts are that we are all happy that we spent good money on our helmets, shoes and biking shorts. These three things are the most important for everyday comfort. And dry sacs for panniers! Super awesome for ease of use and worry.
